8 Daily Rituals of The «Super Achievers»

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” ~ Aristotle

We have all watched a video, listened to a podcast, watched a movie, listened to a motivational speaker and get pumped or inspired about an idea. We have even made some resolutions and came up with a list of actions to take in order to translate the idea into a tangible fact. But 99% of people fail to follow through and build a momentum to bring the idea into fruition. They resort to their feelings and only take action when they feel like it. As a result, most people never achieve what they desire and always content themselves with mediocre lives and whatever the world hands to them.

Super achievers on the contrary, create momentum by putting strategic plan in place, and make it a habit to take daily actions toward the execution of the idea. They do not rely on feeling or luck, rather, the willpower and the habit mechanism to enable them to systematically take massive action. Successful people such as Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Tony Robbins, Russel Simons, Mark Zukeberg all have a sort of daily routines that enables them to sustain their health, wealth and well being. In no particular order, here is my take on the 7 most important daily rituals for super achievers:

  • Work Hard Toward your purpose everyday

I will start my list with work ethic,  simply because it is the single most important variable that trumps all the other rituals in this article. In fact, all genuine high achievers agree on the amount of hard work that it takes to achieve anything meaningful in live.  Malcom Gladwell in his book the « outliers », states that it requires at least 10000 hours equivalent to 10 years of hard work to become an expert and produce high level performance. For those who wish to run a business, Patrick Bet David in his Youtube Channel Valuetainment suggest that to be really successful and reach at least multi-million dollars in revenue, we need to be what he called « an all the timer ». Which is somebody who pretty much works all the time, on his dreams or on his business. These examples are just to name a few, but there are tones  and tones of examples of high performance in the fields like sport, science, music, art …  So make it a ritual to block hours on your calendar, when you attack the most important tasks without any distraction. I am talking about putting yourself in the state of flow and producing at a high level of quality.

  • Sleep at least 8 hours per day

There is a misconception in the industry for people who want to excel and achieve mastery. Most people, even highly successful individuals say that, sleep is for lazy, poor and underachievers people. My take on that is that, to produce a work of great quality,  one must be well rested. Research as shown that, at least 8 hours of sleep are necessary per day to allow the body to recuperate, in order to maintain a state of peak performance, during the long working hours of the day.

  • Read at least 1 hour per day

One should read for many reasons including: to learn, to grow and to get informed about what’s happening in the world. Super achievers have special interest in self-development books. They read inspiring and motivating stories everyday, to fill their mind with ideas, positivity and optimism.

  • Take 15 minutes of planning everyday

Take 15 minutes, first time in the morning or at night before going to bed and write down your goals or what need to be done to make the day/ next day perfect and wonderful. What that does is, it programs your brain to focus and only spend the best hours of the day working on your most important goals of the day.

  • Mediate at least 30 minutes per day

Take 30 minutes, first time in the morning after journaling or before going to bed and free your mind of every stinking thinking of the day. This limits the ability of «the monkey mind » to continuously wonder with unnecessary thinking and enables us to get centered, focus and more productive during the day. They are many types of meditation out there, my advice to you is to test a few of them and then choose what works best for you and use it for your daily meditation practice. Personally, I found that meditation mixed with creative visualization works best for me.

  • Social interaction

Call at least 2 people each day and talk face to face with at least 2 people each day. This enables you to satisfy a vital craving that we all have. To love and to be loved.

  • One hour of physical exercise at least 3 times per week

Besides of reasons such as weight loss and good looks,  to be able to have enough energy and vitality to go after our dreams, we must exercise our body regularly. Our body is our temple, and we should take care of it each and everyday.

  • Positive affirmation

Affirmation is a powerful tool to rewire your brain and change your self image to match with the person you want to be. Bob proctor has a lot of content around the self image and the power of positive affirmations. Through his teachings on paradigms, he shows that, affirmation install the new self-image in the subconscious mind, that is responsible for all actions/results we have in our lives.
